The Difference is in the Design

Objective: Provide on-the-job training and coaching for participants who go through rotational job assignments in various Finance departments as part of an in-house management development program.

Challenge: Finance department supervisors needed to know their role and responsibilities during job rotations and to be able to answer participants' questions that arose. Although the supervisors attended an information session before job rotations began, they also needed a resource for timely information and support if the program manager was not readily available.

Solution: Training by Design designed and developed a desktop reference guide to supplement the information session. The guide clearly and concisely explained the components, policies and procedures of the professional development program in a well-organized and easy-to-use format. Finance department supervisors could look up answers to questions on their own and contact the program manager when needed. Copies of the reference guide were also distributed to participants and other key people involved in the program. The content of the guide is updated yearly.
